Potential Draft Targets – Casey Mittelstadt

Back in February, we gave you five players that the Flyers could potentially go after in this year’s draft. Now with the standings looking a bit different and the Flyers possibly messing up their own draft position here are five more talented players that could wind up in the Flyers system.

Check out the last batch of potential draft targets

Nikita Popugaev     Martin Necas

Kailer Yamamoto     Callan Foote

Maxime Comtois    Eeli Tolvanen

Casey Mittelstadt

C/LW, Green Bay, USHL

Outside of the obvious Hischier/Patrick, I think Mittelstadt, at least in terms of offense, is the most dynamic player in the draft. Quite frankly, he’s a game changer. He’s 6’1, 201 pounds, which is quite impressive for an 18-year-old kid. Casey put up 28 points in 21 USHL games and has committed to the University of Minnesota, where he will continue to develop, although he may not be far from the NHL at this point.

He’s got the size, weight, speed and sense to be an impact player in the NHL very soon. Casey is a bit of a reach for the Flyers, as he will most likely fall in the 5-9 range in the draft, and Philadelphia continues to win for valor at the end of the season even as their playoff hopes are over.
