T.J. Brennan’s Hat Trick Breaks Records

In Sunday night’s 7-4 win over the Utica Comets, Phantoms defenseman T.J. Brennan scored his 15th, 16th, and 17th goals of the season for a hat trick.

Brennan has the 2nd most points on the Phantoms this season with 17 goals and 26 assists for 43 points. He is behind only Jordan Weal who has 47. Brennan’s 3rd goal of the game against Utica gave him 130 career goals moving him into second place all-time in goals scored by a defenseman. He surpasses Bryan Helmer who had 129 goals in his AHL career and was inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame earlier this season.

Brennan needs 36 more goals to tie for 1st place with John Slaney, who has 166 career goals. It doesn’t seem like the Flyers will be calling Brennan up any time soon, so he may have plenty of time to cement himself in the AHL record books.
