Flyers Prospect of the Week
(stats up to date as of December 1st)
This Week’s top Prospect: Carter Hart
Disappointed that the Flyers took a goalie in the 2nd round of the 2016 NHL draft? Don’t be. Carter Hart is not just any ordinary goalie.
Hart has had an incredible season with the Everett Silvertips thus far. Hart leads the entire CHL with a ridiculous 1.59 goals against average.
Hart has had a fantastic week, starting three games for the Silvertips.
He began the week in a game against a talented Seattle Thunderbirds team. Hart was peppered with shots throughout the game, but none got past him. A 37-save shutout for the 18-year old netminder.
Hart followed his shutout up a few days later against the powerhouse Prince George Cougars. In this game, Hart was not tested as often as the previous game, but he was arguably just as good. Hart stopped all 26 shots he faced to record his second straight shutout.
But Hart was not satisfied with back-to-back shutouts, so on November 30th, he decided to stop all 20 shots to record his third straight shutout.
Third. Straight. Shutout.
In Hart’s back-to-back-to-back shutouts, he has stopped a combined 83 shots!
Canada recently announced their preliminary roster for the upcoming World Juniors, and no one was surprised to see Carter Hart’s name on that list. In fact, he is expected to be Canada’s starter for the junior tournament.
Hart is not the tallest goalie you will find, but he has great reflexes and athleticism. He has all the tools to become a future starting goalie in the NHL one day.
Everett is known to be a very good defensive team that do not allow a lot of high quality scoring chances, but it is hard to argue with numbers like these:
