Flyers Prospect of the Week
Every week, @futureofphilly will highlight one Flyers prospect that stood out from the past 7 days. The feature will include stats, analysis, honorable mentions, and more.
(stats up to date as of October 17th, 2016)
This week’s top prospect: Wade Allison
Wade Allison is off to a terrific start to his college hockey career with Western Michigan. Allison was drafted by the Flyers 52nd overall in the second round of the 2016 draft.
Since October 6th, Allison has played in 4 games, tallying 3 goals and 2 assists over that span. On October 14th, in a game vs Bowling Green, Allison scored 2 goals in regulation, and scored another one in an unofficial overtime. It did not count as a hat trick, however he did score 3 times. So technically, the 6 foot 2 winger has scored 4 goals since October 6th, but only 3 of them officially counted.
On October 17th, Allison was named ‘Bauer Hockey’s NCHC Rookie of the Week.’ Do not be surprised if he wins this award multiple times over the course of the year. He is one of the best freshman players in college hockey this season.
Allison certainly has potential to become a top-6 winger one day in the NHL. He has an excellent shot and plays a power game. Over the course of the year, an area where he can improve upon include his defence. He is not a 200-foot player just yet, but he has a few years in college with Western Michigan to become one.
