Reading Royals Release Opening Day Roster

 

The Philadelphia Flyers aren’t the only team that will be starting their season on Friday night. The Flyers ECHL affiliate team, the Reading Royals will play their home opener against the Elmira Jackals.

On Thursday night, the Royals released their 22-man opening day roster. The team will carry 12 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goalies. The team released Kris Newbury, formerly of the Adirondack Phantoms, Hershey Bears, and Ontario Reign, from a professional tryout (PTO). Two defensemen, Matt Chiarantano and Bobby Gertsakis, were signed to ECHL standard contracts. Chiarantano will be placed on reserve, giving the Royals 21 active players.
