Flyers Make Changes Facing Elimination

Down 3-0 in the first round and facing a series sweep, the Flyers are looking to stay alive at least one more game.

The first obvious change to the lineup will be the absence of Pierre-Edouard Bellemare who received a one-game suspension for his hit on Dimitri Orlov in the third period of Game 3.  The hit started a brawl and the eventual embarrassment that was raining bracelets. Collin McDonald will fill in on the 4th line and brings a big body and playoff experience against Ovechkin.

Michal Neuvirth will likely get the start in net tonight. In Dave Isaac’s “5 things to watch” He says that Dave Hakstol doesn’t think the goalie change will have a big effect on the rest of the team.  “I don’t think it matters to our guys. Honestly, I don’t think it matters which one of guys is in net to our team,” coach Dave Hakstol said. “We’ve played hard, played well in front of both of them. I think they trust either of our two goaltenders.’’

Around the playoffs, other teams have switched up their goaltenders after losing two games to good results.

The top lines also got reshuffled in practice this morning. Changes were made, but the lines are familiar.

Forward Lines:

Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds
Voracek-Raffl-Gagner
Laughton-Cousins-Read
VandeVelde-White-McDOnald

Defensive Pairs:

Schultz-Streit
MacDonald-Gostisbehere
Manning-Gudas
