Chris Johnson had suggested that the Flyers were going to make a late night/early morning trade and he was definitely right. Almost directly after it was announced that the Lightning moved Brett Connolly to Boston, it became official that Coburn was moved to Tampa Bay.

In return, the Flyers acquired defenseman Radko Gudas, a 2015 first round pick, and a 2015 3rd round pick. Before I go any further into this, just be aware that we will probably not see Gudas this season due to knee surgery. Gudas, 24, has two goals and three assists in 31 games this season. The 2015 first round pick is Tampa Bay’s unless they miss the playoffs and win the draft lottery, which is unlikely. If that would happen, the Flyers would get the New York Rangers 1st round pick that they had traded last season to get Martin St.Louis.

With this trade, Claude Giroux is now the only player remaining from the 2010 playoffs. Ray Emery was also on the roster, but was injured
