Monday: The Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals 3-2. Dom Brown went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI which is his 55th RBI of the season. Cody Asche went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 homer, 1 RBI, the home run was his 9th of the year and the RBI was his 41st RBI. A.J. Burnett received his 7th win of the season as he went 7 innings, gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and struck out 12. Jake Diekman recorded his 16th hold of the year and Jonathan Papelbon recorded his 32nd save of the year. This was a solid game for the inconsistent A.J. Burnett and Diekman keeps solidifying that he should be a weapon in this bullpen for years to come.

Tuesday: There are signs pointing to that Cuban pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez will be a September call up. The Phillies defeated the Nationals 4-3. Darin Ruf started at first base for Ryan Howard and Ruf went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI,  and hit his 3rd homer of the year. Cole Hamels received the no decision as he went 7 innings, gave up 8 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and struck out 5. Ken Giles picked up his third win of the season and Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 33rd save of the year.

Wednesday: The Phillies defeated the Nationals 8-4. Marlon Byrd went 3 for 5 in the win with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, and those 2 RBIs were his 76th and 77th of the season. Kyle Kendrick picked up his 7th win of the year as he went 6 innings, gave up 7 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, and struck out 4. Antonio Bastardo picked up his 8th hold of the year and Jake Diekman picked up his 17th hold of the year. This win completed the sweep for the Phillies over the Nationals and the Phillies completed this past homestand with a 7-2 record.

Thursday: Phillies owner David Montgomery will be taking a leave of absence from the Phillies due to undergoing treatment for cancer in his jaw. In the statement by the Phillies, the statement said the Phillies look forward to Montgomery returning to the organization “when he is fully recovered.” Former Phillies general manager Pat Gillick will be taking over Montgomery’s until he returns. The Phillies trade that sent Roberto Hernandez to the LA Dodgers was completed as the Phillies received right handed pitcher Victor Arano in return.

Friday: The Phillies fell to the New York Mets 4-1 on Friday. Cody Asche went 1 for 3 in the loss with 1 RBI and that RBI was Asche’s 42nd RBI of the year. David Buchanan received his received the no decision as he went 6 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and struck out 3. Jake Diekman received his 4th loss of the season.

Saturday: The Phillies defeated the Mets 7-2. Marlon Byrd went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 homer. and the homer was his 25th and his 78th RBI of the season. Jerome Williams received his 5th win of the year as he went 6 1/3 innings, gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and struck out 3.

Sunday:  The Phillies fell to the Mets 6-5. Dom Brown had a breakout game as he went 4 for 5 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, hit his 21st double of the year, and hit his 8th homer of the year. A.J. Burnett received his MLB leading 15th loss as he went 6 innings, gave up 9 hits, 5 runs, 1 walk, and struck out 8.
