Flyers end the regular season and Miley gets bumped for the Playoffs

Back in October Flyers fans were quick to pray for the end of the season, and our suffering. As we’ve been reminded time and time again the Flyers had the WORST start to a season in franchise history going 1-7-0 in the first 8 games. If any fan tells you that they were right there with Giroux predicting a playoff appearance from that 1-7 team, they’re either lying or they were drunk the whole month of October.

10 record and the third place position in the Metro division along with the Rangers, a team who had similar struggles in the beginning of the season.  The Flyers last regular season game against the Carolina Hurricanes didn’t mean a lot in terms of the points, before the game the difference between the Flyers and Rangers was 3 points. In the last game against the Hurricanes, the Flyers decided to give Phantoms goalie Cal Heeter his first NHL game and a taste of the NHL, also giving goalies Steve Mason and Ray Emery some rest before starting the playoffs.

Things didn’t go so smoothly for the 25 year old goaltender as the Hurricanes managed to take a 3 goal lead in the first period. Two of the goals against Heeter went right through an open five-hole, while the first shot of the game was a Jeff Skinner slap shot. Heeter did manage a few good saves and the Flyers rallied in the second period to tie the game, but the Flyers lost the lead again in the third. The game was forced into overtime after Carolina goalie, Anton Kuhdobin tried to get himself an empty net goal, which resulted in a Wayne Simmonds goal. Unfortunately the Flyers lost in a shoot out with none of the Flyers shooters able to put one past Kuhdobin.

The Home ice advantage already goes to the Rangers thanks to a string of late Flyers losses. But who cares about those now? WE’RE GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS!

The schedule has been announced for the first round against the rangers:

Game 1: Thursday, April 17th Flyers at Rangers 7:00 p.m.

Game 2: Sunday, April 20th Flyers at Rangers 12:00 p.m.

Game 3: Tuesday, April 22nd Rangers at Flyers 8:00 p.m.

Game 4: Friday, April 25th Rangers at Flyers 7:00 p.m.

Game 5 (if nec): Sunday, April 27th Flyers at Rangers 12:00 p.m.

Game 6 (if nec): Tuesday, April 29th Rangers at Flyers TBD

Game 7 (if nec): Wednesday, April 30th Flyers at Rangers TBD

As some of our avid Miley Cyrus fans will notice, the first Flyers home game of the series is scheduled on the same day that Miley’s Philly concert was scheduled for. The pop/drug/twerk, singer/sideshow was forced to reschedule the Philly date of the “Bangerz tour” luckily for rabid teenage girls they were able to move it by only one day.

And yes I say forced because Playoff hockey trumps this weird act any day:
