Sixers Weekly – Can it get any worse?

Rookie center Nerlens Noel tweeted on Monday the date 4-4-14. This tweet had twitter abuzz and speculation that this could be the day Nerlens Noel plays in a game in a Sixers uniform. The Sixers fell to the New York Knicks in New York 123-110. The loss was the Sixers 17th consecutive loss. Even though the Sixers dropped the game, the Sixers had good performances from its players. MCW finished the game with 23 points, 10 assists, and 13 rebounds for his second career triple-double. Tony Wroten followed up his career high 30 point game last Saturday with a 23 point performance in a loss. The Sixers have signed big man Jarvis Varnado for the rest of the season.


On Tuesday, Nerlens Noel made more steps to playing in a game as he played 4 on 4. Thaddeus Young commented on Nerlens Noel, “He is one of the quickest guys I have seen off of his feet. One time we were going at each other and he altered my shot and I got rebound and he was already off his feet again. He can probably jump three or four times before somebody jumps twice.”

Sixers lose to Kings

The Sixers lost to the Sacramento Kings 115-98 at home. The loss was the Sixers 18th consecutive loss. James Anderson scored 17 points and made 5 of 9 shots from behind the three point lines. Thaddeus Young scored 16 points but was an abysmal 5 for 18 from the field. The Sixers signed guard Darius Johnson-Odom to a 10 day contract. The Sixers released guard Lorenzo Brown to make room on the roster for newly signed guard Darius Johnson-Odom. Former guard Evan Turner commented on the Sixers before the Sixers take on the Pacers, “I can’t say it enough — no animosity, no negativity. When the ownership, the GM and president that drafted me left, I didn’t expect much beyond that. I am thankful for playing here and having an opportunity to play this year.”

The Sixers fell to the Indian Pacers 101-94 at home in the Wells Fargo Center. The loss was the 19th consecutive loss overall and their 15th consecutive loss at home. Also the loss dropped the team’s record to an awful 15-50. This loss the was the first time in 11 games that the Sixers did not lose by double digits. Thaddeus Young had a double-double as he recorded 25 points and 10 assists. Thad Young did not have a great shooting night as he shot 10 for 31 from the floor. MCW added in 12 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds. MCW said this about the game, “We played great team basketball tonight. We made all the right plays, we dug in defensively, but we came up short. We can be happy about a lot of things in this game.”
