The Phillies resigned third baseman Kevin Frandsen and offered contracts to pitcher Kyle Kendrick, relief pitcher Antonio Bastardo, outfielder Ben Revere, and John Mayberry Jr. The Phillies joined in the action of a busy day of baseball as the Phillies traded back up catcher Erik Kratz and pitcher Rob Rasmussen to Toronto in exchange for relief pitcher Brad Lincoln. The Phillies signed 36 year old veteran catcher Wil Nieves to a one year deal on and signed 28 year old Jeff Manship to a minor league with an invite to spring training. Cole Hamels said this the disappointment of a season, “There was a lot bitterness, pointing fingers.”


Outspoken cornerback Cary Williams said this about Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians complaining about the officiating in Sunday’s game, “Man, let’s not be crybabies.”

Rookie safety Earl Wolff hasn’t practiced since November 10th with a knee injury and was out at practice this week but didn’t practice on Tuesday, rookie wide receiver Jeff Maehl didn’t practice on Tuesday with a head injury and possible concussion, and linebacker Najae Goode was at practice but didn’t appear to be participating as he is battling a hamstring injury.

Washington Redskins v Philadelphia Eagles

Punter Donnie Jones was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. Linebacker Brandon Graham said this about playing his hometown team, “It gets me extra motivated.” Rookie safety Earl Wolff is out against the Lions this Sunday with a knee injury and linebacker Najae Goode is also out with a hamstring injury.


Flyers and Comcast-Spectator president Peter Luukko resigned this week to the surprise of Chairman of Comcast-Spectator Ed Snider. Snider said this about Luukko, “I’ve had better days and I was surprised, but at the same time, after having a discussion with Peter, I understand where he is coming from.”

The Flyers fell to the Wild mostly due to failed opportunities in the third period. Voracek simply said this about the failed opportunities obviously frustrated at his lack of offensive production, “It’s got to go in.”

NHL: Philadelphia Flyers at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Flyers arguably had their best win this season  as they came back from a 3-1 deficit scoring 5 unanswered goals in the 6-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings. Courtier had a career night as he notched 4 points including 2 goals and 2 assists. Matt Read said this about the win, “Things are just clicking for us.”


The Sixers started their week off with a loss on Sunday to the Pistons with the score being 115-100. After the loss the Sixers fell to 1-7 on the road this season. MCW added another award on the young season as he was named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. MCW and Orlando Magic rookie guard Victor Oladipo both had triple doubles in the game but the Sixers won 126-125 in 2OT. This was Carter-Williams first triple double as he scored 27 points, dished out 10 assists, and grab 12 rebounds. The Sixers went on the road to take on the Charlotte Bobcats and they fell 105-88. This was the eighth consecutive road loss for the Sixers dropping their road record to 1-8. MCW didn’t play in the game with a sore knee injury.
